No fewer than 15 persons have been killed while several others were injured after herdsmen invaded Uzughul, Tse Ginde, in Saghev council ward of Guma LGA, early hours of Saturday.

DAILY POST gathered that the attackers numbering over 20 set ablaze many shops and several houses, including that of one Dr. David Tsevende.

Sources in the village hinted our reporter that the attackers wearing military camouflage drove into the village in a white Hilux patrol van.

After gunning down some villagers, the gunmen reportedly carted away assorted food items belonging to traders and farmers in the community.

Confirming the attack to DAILY POST, Terver Akase, Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, said 10 corpses have so far been recovered.

He described the attack as unprovoked, while calling on the relevant security agencies to come to their aide.

Akase said, ” I can confirm that Fulani herdsmen last night and earlier today invaded Saghev Ward of Guma Local Gvernment Area, Benue State and killed many innocent persons.
“The attacked communities are Tse-Abi, Tse-Ginde, Tse-Peviv, Tse-Ikyo, Agenke and Gbenke.

“Ten corpses have so far been recovered with many others injured. The armed herdsmen also burnt numerous houses, shops and other property in the area.

“This mindless attack was unprovoked, and we urge security agencies to arrest the herdsmen behind the killings for prosecution.”
